ENVP History

The past

The Environmental Geosciences and Environmental Studies degree programs were proposed in 2001 and approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in 2002. The Environmental Programs emerged from an environmental focus within the department of Geography that began in 1973. Over the last decade, the Environmental Programs have experienced rapid growth which has led to numerous curricular refinements to meet student and employer demands.

The Present

The Environmental Programs are poised to continue to grow as more individuals recognize the importance of studying the environment and its challenges. We are committed to continuous assessment of trends and changes within the environmental field and aim to grow and adapt in response.
